Eco Movement Argentina has partnered with Suderbyn Permculture Ecovillage, in Gotland, Sweden, and together we have applied for a grant through European Youth in Action, which if successful will enable us to receive 4 volunteers aged 18-30 for a period of 5 months, in summer 2011-12. Youth in Action is a programme of the European Union that aims to increase youth participation in society, equaility and cross-cultural social cohesion through actions such as the European Voluntary Service, in which youth travel overseas to offer their services and receive non-formal learning opportunities in return.

http://eacea.ec.europa.eu/youth/index_en.phpAbout us:We aim to inform you of our proposal related to the development of sustainable communities in the South American region.
With the help of members from different countries, the mission of Echo Movement is to encourage the exchange of experiences of volunteers from around the world. These volunteers are mostly academics, who, by taking part in our different programs, share the experience of creating sustainable communities that function as centers of permacultural education.
Eco Movement Argentina, invites foundations and NGOs, related to environmentalism, social work and sustainable development, to be part of this movement by helping us to find and register interested volunteers and by introducing our proposal to universities and institutions that may be interested in supporting the Movement. We will organize and host informative talks and presentations to share our goal and vision.
Eco Movement Argentina: “Lets Make The Change”Who we are:The Eco Movement Argentina was created in 2008 as a reaction to the world’s deepening environmental crisis. It started from a plot of land on an island in the Tigre delta, just north of Buenos Aires in Argentina, and grew into a self-sustaining eco village.
Currently the Eco Movement Argentina is self-supported, unassociated with any company or governmental organization. Everything is developed through our own means. All our resources come from the founder and from the goodwill of the volunteers who work on the project.
Our name reinforces our beliefs. “Eco” describes the effect we hope to have: one with a continually spreading impact. “Movement” describes the force that drives us: one of independent travelers and volunteering backpackers who learn as they travel and spread the idea of the Eco Movement Argentina as they venture out into the world.
Mission statement:To develop more self-sufficient and sustainable eco-villages, initially in South America and then globally.
To create an environmental politic that integrates.
To facilitate cultural interchange, cultivate a sense of collective responsibility and raise awareness of environmental issues both in our volunteers and the general public.
To educate and share knowledge on sustainability both with volunteers and local communities.
Volunteers can develop their University projects with us. We welcome any opportunity to better understand the world around us and develop more effective methods.
By 2020 we aim to be able to teach a University-recognized qualification in sustainable living and all this encompasses, on location in a fully functional eco-village.
To promote physical and mental wellbeing through working with the natural environment.
What we are asking for:We are not asking for economic support. What we really need is to spread the word of our project and get more volunteers, and empower others to join us on other sites in other countries, in the spirit of the Echo radiating outwards.
As well as volunteers we also wish to acquire materials which would otherwise be wasted, be they donations of property which are not being used, donations of materials from companies or simply unwanted ‘garbage’ which volunteers may find lying in the street. Practically anything we find we can make use of with a bit of lateral thinking.
Please help us spread the word of the Eco Movement Argentina. Most volunteers come to us through word of mouth from other volunteers. The volunteers need not be knowledgeable about sustainable-living, but they should have the will to create concrete action. They will be working on different projects in the eco villages, dependent on each individual’s skills and interests. They will learn, teach, and give support to the movement through many different avenues.
If your organization can help in any way it would be much appreciated. This could be something as simple as a link to our website, or if possible a direct referral of students or interested parties to join our project. Everyone is welcome!
